Day 35, Friday 5th September – Charleville to Cobar

600 kms to cover today, and actually on the road by 8am

Charleville Water Tower

Big boom happened 25 kms out of town

The road for the 1st hour out of Charleville was rubbish, holding me to 80 kph, much better afterwards.

Stopped for a quick Coke Zero, and 20 mjns later got out if Wyandra. Worth a visit
Cunnamulla was jumping with tourists, and no less than 5 different Ural Delay Factor conversations. Which meant I spent an hour here that would cost me later
Railway Station
The Cunnamulla Fella

But I was making progress. 27 consecutive days in Queensland is a new record for me.

Bye Qld

Even in Barringun the sidecar dislodged a fan out of seemingly nowhere.

Wasps and bees made this the quickest stop of the day
Fairly typical scene of goats roadside for the last 80 kms / hour and a half into Cobat

The observation I was left with here is that, while they hug the fog line  and don’t flinch for road trains, V8 Land cruisers nor any type of 4 wd for that matter, the goats were afraid of a 42hp motorcycle that sounds like a sewing machine and would make moves away from the road about 150 metres ahead of me, and accelerate as I got closer. But only 1 crossed in front of me.

Throw in the occasional small roo, a couple of emu’s and a sign saying beware of horses for the next 23 kms (& why not 22 or 24?  – who decides these things?) and I was happy to see Cobar

The sunset was worth it

Chinese dnner at the Bowlo, and then an hour chatting with my neighbour at the Caravan Park cabins before calling it a night
