Day 32, Tuesday 2nd September – Townsville to Charters Towers

Bruce the sidecar whisperer had called late yesterday to organise me going in at about 10.30am this morning.

But first I had to convince the hotel I was coming back for the 8 bags I had…

Bruce took me through a number of things over the next 3 hours, including the issue with the 2wd not working

See how the splines on the right/ new  one go further than the splines on the left/old one? Thats what engages the 2wd!

Then I got to sign the Ural  honour board, for Ural sidecars that have made the tip (and stopped at Bruce’s on the return)

Check out the re-attached mudguard!

And windscreen…

Got out of Townsville about 3pm, after having made 5 phone calls before finding a room in Charters Towers.

No fuel at Mingala…
Got a photo with this mural 2 yrs ago😁
Now, back on to this year’s theme!
Sunset at Towers Hill

I walked 15 mins or so into the centre of Charters Towers for dinner, and learnt a few things during trivia night at the pub.

Then got a case of the cbf’s and ordered a taxi back to the motel on the edge of town. Except the taxi never turned up (despite noting a pick up and delivery in the taxi app). So, 10 minutes waiting and 15 minutes walking later I was back at the motel…
