Late enough start that the council mower was in for his 2nd fill of diesel for the dayπ

With a whopping 65 kms planned for the day it didn’t matter.

Highlight of the road section of today was overtaking two road trains on one of the dirt sections. Admittedly we were going walking pace and they were going 1/2 walking pace but the closing speed was 100 percentππ
With a 10.45 am departure and a 12.30 pm arrival we had to wait for our fancy room at Archer River to be ready.
We’d found the rider from the nicely equipped Triumph while we were still in Coen this morning – Harry was off around Australia from his home in Northern NSW.
He was still working out the bugs in his comms/GPS/phone setup when he got into Archer River just after us and asked us for some assistance.
I can now tell you that to pair anything with the UCom 3 you need to hold the front button for at least 10 seconds, and UNTIL THE LIGHT GOES RED. The until the light goes red bit was not mentioned by Gemini, but was in the downloadable manual…THEN the music button ONCE for phone setup and FIVE times for GPS. The app on the phone also gives a few extra settings etc.
Harry was most appreciative as he continued on to Weipa – we might see him again up the top.

By then our room was ready, and as we were unpacking the bike we struck up a conversation with the couple in the next room. I’ve been wearing an RM Williams t shirt on the bike and they mentioned they were from Jamestown, the birthplace of RM Williams.
I told my story of my near miss in Jamestown last year
https://202ontour.com/2024/09/01/close-call/
And then mentioned that I followed a farmer from Jamestown on YouTube. Small world, they are the parents of a good mate and sometimes participant in the videos.
We had a fair old conversation and Liz took great pride in adding value to the farm talk by mentioning cotton harvest has finished for the year. And I have a phone number for a potential grain harvest job!π
After a bit of checking over the bike (yesterdays fixes seem to be holding!) I noticed the fellas from the motorcycle tour were heading down the river in bathers – one of the locals confirmed that it was safe, although only a foot deep. So off for a dip/sit in the Archer River

Liz wasn’t taking any chances
..

And then back for Dinner
