I suggested an early start, but by the time we packed up and chatted a bit with Paul’s friend Rob about different options for the return trip and Liz got her Soy Latte it was an 8.50am departure.
And 15 minutes down the road…A troublesome windscreen mount, not our first rodeo with this problem. Eventually it settles in its happy place until i can get the Locktite to take (Overnight). Not sure if the duct tape is to protect the screen or the headlight surround ..And an attempt to at least slow down the movement. Hose clamps for the win!One of a handful of road trains we saw during the dirt sections todayThe Ural paint scheme is called Outback Orange…
We had a late breakfast at Musgrave Roadhouse to break the trip in two, 65 odd kms to there and 106 odd kms from there to Coen.
Liz getting her full outback Jillaroo experience…The fellas on this tour were lined up outside the Exchange Hotel in Coen on our arrival
Doing my daily checks I was mildly surprised how well the sidecar was holding up (well apart from the screen…). The right rear indicator bulb was loose, an easy fix. But then i got to this – a loose rear light assembly on the already troublesome, but holding up, sidecar mudguard.
Back together after being ably assisted by Liz. Some mudguard washers to spread the load, and a liberal amount of Locktite👍
Speaking of being ably assisted by Liz, she has come a long way in the last few years when it comes to being an assistant mechanic.
The other night she pointed the torch at what I was looking at, and then where my hands were, without any prompting😁👍. We are working up to standing where I can see her when backing a trailer 😁
Nicely setup Tiger 900 passed through town during the afternoonThe first $50 steak of the trip. Worth every cent!I haven’t figured out which category I fall into ….
