Day 12, Wednesday 13th August – Townsville

Dropped the sidecar off just after  9am and filled in a few hours at a nearby shopping centre before we got called back by Bruce, the sidecar whisperer of Nth Quensland (and likely wider).

When down in Sydney after the rain they’d had and thought I had engaged 2wd to get out of some mud but it was evident from the way the bike behaved that perhaps I hadn:t?

Promptly forgot about it until Bruce rang and said he’d come across an issue, that, while it wouldn’t stop us, it might slow us down. So to speak 😁

The splines on the sidecar drive wheel were stripped. In discussions with the importer , and neither had seen it before. Bruce has ordered the parts and submitted a goodwill warranty claim, since the bikes 2 yr warranty ended in March. We shall see, but it does mean that I have an appt with Bruce for the 1st September for a fix and a new front tyre. Which will leave 6 days to get home in time for work on the 8th😉
Bruce’s tyre pressure chart
Didnt find this one a few years ago
And some views from Castle Hill Lookout, very popular with walkers. Townsville’s version of the tan, except it’s all up👣
Some bonus hunting 😁
Before dinner in the Palmer St Precinct
