After lunching in Coolgardie we got to Kalgoorlie and have spent the last two nights here.
One of the attractions we had to book in advance was the tour of the last working brothel in Hays Street, hence the reminder😁
Saturday afternoon saw us visit the Mt Charlotte Water Tank lookout, an ode to the many, many kilometres of water pipe we’ve seen in the last few days. Quite the engineering fest for its time.
Then onto the Super Pit, windy as it was. It was at this point I tried to clean some of the dirt off the cars rear indicators and the like.
Mmmm, that’s a bit tougher than I’d hoped. As much as I wanted to leave a proper car clean till we got home (street cred!) I thought the consequences outweighed the benefits 😁😁 and so we put $20 through the high pressure at the carwash. Possibly the most half arsed result, but it was windy as, and it was late. That’s my excuse.
Take away pizza for dinner.
Sunday saw a lazy start, before we took in one of WA’s dining institutions – Jesters😁😁, before taking in the gold smelting demonstration at the Hannan Tourist Mine. Spent another hour looking around before we grabbed lunch at the Kalgoorlie equivalent of Pancake Parlour.🥞🥞
A quick spin around the Goldfields Museum before the highlight of the day, the Questa Casa Tour.
We thought this might have been an hour, but were treated to almost 2 hours of history of sex work in Kalgoorlie. The madame of 32 years, Carmel, was quite the storyteller.
And then, since the car was still filthy and we are about to spend 6 days in it to get home we spent another $30 at the automatic car wash to get rid of some more dirt. Its now presentable 😁😁
