Nullarbor Roadhouse to Eucla via the Bunda Cliffs, Koonalda Homestead, Koonalda Cave and Border Village.

Plenty of road trains parked up at Nullarbor for sunrise

A short km day, but lots of in and out of the car as we went in to every Bunda Cliff lookout, and into Koonalda Homestead and Cave.

Bunda Cliffs, Lookout #1 westbound

Koonalda was the original “Nullarbor Roadhouse” and had a couple of mentions in a book i bought yesterday about the pushing of Googs Track. Nice to have that perspective before having a look around.

No fuel at Koonalda Homestead

Lot of history here, and then the roughest road of the trip (so farπŸ˜πŸ˜‰) down to see the Koonalda Cave.

Koonalda Cave was bigger than any of the caves at Nullarbor Roadhouse yesterday
More cliffs. Lookout #3 westbound
Rooey 2 looks like he’s had a spruce up. Border Village

Since I have spent so much time at Border Village over the years on motorcycle trips I gave Mum the full tour  Found the Border Run 30th Anniversary Photo and who is that I see up the back dressed in black tie? Yup, that’s me from 18 years ago!

And then deja vu as i walked back out the front door to see this fella attacking what appeared to be a rear tyre puncture. Since I have experience in fixing rear tyre punctures in that EXACT location (2017? Border Run) , AND I had all my motorcycle puncture repair gear with me I went to see if I could offer any help

Turns out this was a planned tyre change and he had all the tools and knowledge required, so after a quick chat I left him to it.

A quick quarantine and we see they have made a start fixing the SAWA Border Photo Op
