On the road again

A lazy 8.45am departure, and defeated in my quest for 1/2 price pancakes at the Pancake Parlor (the temp was >10 Degrees Celsius), the decision was made to head out of Melbourne via the Calder since we would be returning via Ballarat in a couple of weeks time

By the time we hit the turnoff for Malmsbury I was over the freeway and we hit the Bakery for a late brekky. Back roads from here.

Seemed like an appropriate memorial to include in the first day of a cross country trip! (Burke and Wills Memorial in Castlemaine)

Hopefully the same fate doesn’t meet the leader of this expedition…

Maldon, St Arnaud, Donald then Birchip, for a lunch and some murals

Faced a decision here – buy an awesome looking strawberry iced donut and save it for later, or pick one up from Ouyen Bakery when we stopped there in an hour and a half. Decided to spread our money around and was D E V A S T A T E D to get to Ouyen and find they close at 3pm and not 4pm. Almost as bad as finding the Berri Bakery burnt down 5 years ago (now, THAT was the best Sth Australian donut ever)

Instead of heading straight into the motel in Irymple we diverted out to Colignan and Nangiloc. Dinner at the Irymple Hotel.
