Exmouth Wednesday 19th April

Sunset Tuesday night, out at the lighthouse 15 kms out of town
Our $120 a night patch of dirt, home for 3 nights. Well organised. A bit dusty, but it could have been worse dust wise. Lost a star for being at the edge of wi fi access, close enough to see and occassionally connect., But not close enough to do anything!!

Heading north out of town we had to navigate checkpoints both last night and today as authorities worked to manage what was probably the biggest couple of consecutive days in a row they might have ever seen. We went through about 8am and were vehicle number 68.

Cape Range NP where we were able to hire flippers to better navigate the tides at Oyster Stacks and Turquoise Bay.
These were the fish we saw😁
The wteck of the SS Mildura
The Harold Holt Navy Comms base
The Big Prawn!

We deliberately went to local businesses for dinner, after wandering into one on arrival day where they were very helpful even though we weren’t staying there. They had all geared up staff and otherwise, but the build up of crowds was slow.

Turns out a lot of ppl were staying up to 100s of kilometres away and planning to come into the “totality zone” on the day, departing after the eclipse.

This was my original plan if i had taken my other bike and come by myself, given the expectations of ,,”up to 50000 ppl descending on Exmouth”

My predictions of Exmouth being a zoo never really came to being.
