Karijini National Park , Sunday 16th April

Breakfast and crib lunch from the Oasis @ Newman, before breaking out the fuel bladder for the 1st time

With no fuel at Karijini, and the next fuel stop being Tom Price we needed at least 360 kms range. So, we left Newman with 33 litres on board, 19 in the main tank, 2 rotopax 4 litres containers and the 6 litre bladder.

I stopped at 96 kms from Newman and threw the 6 litres in the main tank. It just took it, so a genuine 16 kpl. Helps that i kept to a strict 80 kph.

Bit of traffic along sections here, with regular mine haul trucks and other mining traffic. Big trucks the norm.

200 kms from Newman and we are at Karijini Visitor Centre. New t shirt for me, and a plan for the afternoon.

Lunch at Dales Picnic Area, then a look at Circular Pool and 3 Ways Lookouts.

Fotecscue Falls and Fern Pool were highly recommended so we made the walk in down the 280 stairs and wete rewarded with a quick swim.

Back to the carpark, and on leaving i heard a new rattle. A adjustment nut on the windscreen had departed the bike. While i was looking for a 5 cent piece size nut in the dirt parking lot, liz came across a park ambassador who said her husband might have something in his box of odds and ends.

5 minutes later we had a wingnut that fit, and wete on our way. Awesome.

About 80kms later we got to the turnoff of the Karijini Eco Resort. Only 3 kms of dirt, but boy we got a ride!

Hidden just over the crest of a rise was a combination of bumps that had the sidecar airborne and my ass a foot off the seat!

Time to setup the tent for the 1st time, simples.

The web said that campers couldn’t book dinner, but might be accommodated as walk ins.

To say i was happy when we got a table would be an understatement. 3 course meal or 2 minute noodles happy😁

Asleep by 9, woken at midnight by 3 or 4 howling dingoes that were clearly nearby. Went to the loo and bought my $350 Alpine Star motorcycle boots inside the tent.

All this , after a 2 yr old was attacked by a dingo at the other campground 2 days beforehand. Child our of hospital, dingo being sought

This is the trip to change your life.. Forget the small stuff, so nice out back people always seem to have the right wing nut at the right time. Keep on riding and yes, watch out for the dingoes. !!!! cheers Meg xx
