Thursday 13th April

Earliest start of the trip, explained to Liz it wasn’t a proper road trip until you’ve seen Sunset AND Sunrise from the seat of the bike!

And all because our end destination for the day (Leonora ) was expecting 35 degrees and an afternoon storm.

That, and I wanted to go to Bunnings!

Whistlestop tour of Kalgoorlie had us stop at the Super Pit lookout 1st

Then a special treat for Liz, breakky at Maccas, and then Bunnings for some spare straps and some eye bolts…

Happy Wife!

A lap of the main drag, Hannan Street, and we were off into a pretty good northerly wind that held us to 70 kph for long periods.

Caught up to a couple of other motorcyclists at Menzies, where i had stayed in August 2016. Liz getting ideas.

Masterful plan and execution had us eating lunch while the storm rolled through!

Continuing with the Mining theme we stayed at Leonora Lodge, an ex FIFO camp on the edge of town. Took care of bike maintenance while Liz did a load if washing , had a swim and ate at the buffet dinner. Liz got refused entry, see photo below and guess why. Early night.
