Even after getting up at dawn and running all over on my day off on pre departure day, I still held the show up and we didnt get on the road till 9.15am.
You don’t make up time on a fully loaded sidecar, not in the rain and Easter traffic, and maybe not at all.
And not after forgetting the rejigged Westgate exits had us heading for Geelong instead of Ballarat…..
Rain/ wet roads till Horsham, windy afterwards. There was a 20? minute backup at Beaufort where the freeway ends and theres a traffic light in town. 1st gear idle was the speed here, tempted to get off the bike and walk beside it, but afraid of how to explain the injury if i tripped over getting off the bike. Lots of attention from cars as our lane somehow moved quicker.
Nor sure how many passing lanes between Horsham and Tailem Bend, but you van count on 1 hand how many we didnt get passed on. Sometimes 1 car, sometimes a line of cars.
No one really behind us for any length of time, no grief observed. Early in the day it was pity (in the rain), in the afternoon it is was lighter traffic😀.
We made the Rydges Tailem Bend Motorsport Park around 7. Surprised Liz with how flash it was, countery type meal and then repack #5 commenced😉
Looked at the weather in the days ahead and pondered whether Plan A would work out…
